About the business
Primrose East Allen is a private preschool for children 6 weeks through private Kindergarten (5 by January to participate), with an after school / summer camp program for children up to age 10 (offer bus pick up and drop off to local elementary schools during the school year). We are open 6:30a - 6:30p, and focus on providing balanced nutritious lunches and snacks; breakfast is available at an additional charge. We are a nut-free school and don't allow outside food to protect those students with allergies. We provide alternate meals / snacks as needed.
Our program is built on the concept that who a child becomes is just as important as what he knows. We have a proprietary AdvancED-accredited Balanced Learning Curriculum, that combines purposeful play with nurturing guidance to encourage curiosity, creativity, confidence and compassion.
What truly sets Primrose apart is the fact that we provide our research-informed, time-tested Balanced Learning approach to our teachers, who then creatively bring it to life in their classroom and individualize it for their students. Our curriculum provides instruction for taking the learning up a notch for those who master concepts quickly, as well as how to take it down a notch for those struggling with a concept, recognizing that we all learn in different ways. By providing the curriculum we know we are teaching age-appropriate concepts that can be built upon in subsequent classrooms.
Our Balanced Learning approach involves child-initiated play, teacher guidance where teachers guide and extend children's thinking through meaningful questions and conversation, teacher-directed learning experiences, providing background information and introducing key vocabulary and concepts, and regular evaluation of children's ability to apply the concepts they've learned in new contexts.
Assessments and evaluations are sent home 3x during the school year with parent conferences available upon request, but scheduled twice / year in Preschool, Pre-K and Kindergarten.
But most importantly we to be an extension of our home, providing a safe, loving and nurturing environment where children grow and flourish, developing a life-long love of learning. The owner, Ms. N, is on-site each day and very involved in the operation of the school. Together the leadership team has over 40 years of experience, and many of the teaching staff have been at Primrose 5+ years.

Awards & Accreditations
Primrose Schools was one of the first and still one of the few to require that all individual Primrose school locations become AdvancED-accredited. AdvancED's rigorous accreditation process is based not only on safety factors, but educational factors and proof of a continual improvement monitoring and planning.
AdvancED is the same accrediting organization that accredits many private schools and ISD school systems. Primrose East Allen achieved their most recent school accreditation in 2017, a process that is repeated every five years.
While it's important to have the right fit in each classroom, we do require degreed teachers in our PreK and Kindergarten classrooms, with an additional certification required for Kindergarten. Given we provide the curriculum to the teachers, it's important to have someone with a shared value system who is loving and nurturing in the classroom delivering the curriculum. Many of our teachers have degrees or are in the process of getting a degree.
Whereas state licensing requires that one teacher in each classroom must be CPR / First Aid certified, at Primrose East Allen we require that all of our teachers are First Aid / CPR certified. We also require ongoing training for all of our teachers, available via online and face-to-face training.
We host two in-service training days per year -- the last Friday of summer prior to the ISD back-to-school week and Martin Luther King Day. Recent training included early signs of learning differences in preschoolers, hosted by the International Dyslexia Association of Dallas with representation from Shelton School (school for those who think and learn differently).
