Fantastic care! They truly love enriching the lives of the kids there. Covid has made things difficult at times but they have done a stellar job navigating it. There were no issues with cases or closings at all until Nov 2021. With kids that touch EVERYTHING I was amazed they did so well. You have camera access to look in at your child at any point in the day. There's also an app you can send messages to staff and they are quick to respond. We will miss them when we start elementary.

I made an appointment for a tour, showed up on time and no one was up front. Another parent opened the door, allowing me to bypass the security keypad. After several minutes of standing in the front area unattended. I met with the assistant director Cortney, who was unaware of my appointment. Because of COVID I was not able to tour the facility which is understandable. I proceeded to ask several questions. Starting with emergency preparedness. Cortney admitted that while protocols are in place, she did not know what they are.

When I asked about security Cortney said they take it seriously when I said in a joking tone... "yeah it was really hard for me to get in". Pointing out that she had not let me in, and I was unattended with open access to children for several minutes. She just smiled.

I continued by asking about their COVID protocols. She said that vaccines for teachers are encouraged and said weekly testing was required for those not vaccinated. I asked the ratio of vaccinated teachers in this location, and she said she wasn't sure if she can share that information. I asked some more questions and pointed out some concerns but remained polite and kind.

In efforts to finalize my decision for enrollment, I contacted the director for pricing information and to address my concerns. I contacted the director Kimberly Spangler the next morning and before I could mention anything, she immediately informed me they did not have any available spots.
I assumed it was because Cortney had discussed my questions and concerns. When I stated Cortney said they have plenty of openings, she insisted they did not. I asked why they had a huge banner in front saying enroll now. She said she just looked at staffing and there are no openings until the end of the year. I mentioned that we were looking at late January and she said nope, nothing available.

I thought this was suspicious and contacted La Petite enrollment department. They called Kimberly with my exact enrollment details, and she told them they had openings. I also learned that La Petite locations near my home have very long waiting lists and this location does not. In my opinion Kimberly is a liability to La Petite Academy and is at best deterring customers, at worst is actively exposing La Petite to lawsuits with discriminatory practices by selecting who can and cannot enroll in this location.

Further, Kimberly's social media reveals that perhaps her understanding of child nutrition is abusive and online security protocols surrounding children are dreadful. While parenting styles can differ, and it is not widely accepted to comment on other's parenting choices... I feel like it is fair game when 1. Your job is to care for children 2. Your online presence is public.

When I contacted Le Petite, they were very apologetic of my experience with Kimberly Spangler and directed me to another department to file a complaint, which I did.

Overall, it is disappointing that I would be denied service based on questions and concerns surrounding my child's safety and wellbeing. I appreciate learning this information prior to exposing my family to this woman. I encourage anyone looking for childcare to investigate potential caregivers' online profiles and complete their due diligence.
