We love Tenderheart! My son goes here for daycare and it has been the best place for him - he is so happy here and I love that he's learning so much developmentally. They spend time outdoors, do fun sensory activities, read, have music time, and basically have way more fun than I can provide my son at home! I also love that they provide meals since making cute daycare meals is not in my mom skill set :)

Our friends' daughter was attending another daycare in Milwaukie and didn't have a great experience, and transferred to Tenderheart on our recommendation, and they've also loved it from day one. Our son is in the infant and toddler house with Ms. Jessie and Mr. Gene, but I've heard wonderful things about the preschool with Ms. Angie. It's so nice that kids can go to tenderheart from infants until they are school age. We love tenderheart and highly recommend it!
Our son has attended Tenderheart for 1.5 years, and will continue there through preschool. We recently had the opportunity to take a spot at another highly-rated daycare closer to our house and chose not to because we are so happy with the level of care provided. As an educator myself, I'm keenly aware of what is needed to support whole-child development and school readiness, and appreciate the caregivers at Tenderheart.

My daughter has been going to Tenderheart2 for just over a year. She started when she was 14 months old. It was her first daycare and there were plenty of mornings early on that she cried when I left. The teachers would send me pictures of her playing and happy soon after I was gone. She LOVES going now. The owners, Jessica and Gene, have been extremely accommodating to a few special medical needs my daughter has had. I get a record of all her activities throughout the day, pictures, videos and other updates through an app. They provide a lot of different kinds of foods avoiding processed foods and sugar. Rachel, Ashley, Athena along with the owners, show so much love to the children. I'm thankful to have found Tenderheart.

I have had my children at Tenderheart Childcare since 2012, both at the infant program and preschool. I was referred by someone in the Milwaukie neighborhood that had her 12yo in childcare when she was younger. It is a family run program that adheres to all requirements through the state and I truly appreciate each and every one of them. Especially the owner and her family, Ms Angie, Ms Jessi and Mr Gene. They truly care about the children in care and do everything to ensure a safe and enriching environment for the children. The preschool is run extremely great and really preps the kids for school. The infant program is amazing as well. I have been with them since 2012 and never had one of my kids have a dirty diaper too long, or not eat. They are structured, organized, and their Montessori style teaching is so enriching for the kids they get so much out of it and have fun. As a parent choosing childcare can be very anxiety producing and it is important to listen to your children, but I guarantee you this program and school is an amazing place and your children will learn and grow with love, friends, and structure. I also truly appreciate that they provide nutritious meals and are very responsible when dealing with sick kiddos. Also very much appreciate their security front door systems in place.

Okay, I created an account here JUST for the sake of leaving this review.
Tenderheart is a great place. Period.
My child had recieved care from them from 6months of age right until he was ready for Kindergarten.
They were there for him through his biting stage, his speech therapy needs stage, medical needs stage, and even the mommy-is-late-for-everything stage. The staff is patient and kind and they're always expanding their knowledge with new classes and seminars so they can provide the best care possible to YOUR child.
They are run with structure and ethics which are vital to your child's emotional needs. Inside of that structure, though, you'll find a world for your child that's filled with color, and creativity.

My 2 boys went to Tenderheart for over 2 years until we moved out of state. They both were at the toddler side and then when my oldest was 3, he went over to the preschool side so we have experience with both locations and teachers. They all were great and Angie & Jessica were selective on who they hired to care for the children. All were friendly and worked with us on any difficult situations (i.e. when my oldest was a biter) and we stayed in communication via the app, which we loved. I loved the fact that there was mostly family working there as it gave more of a family feel and you know that's how they were brought up - to love and care for children.
My favorite about Tenderheart is that they let them experience things! Butterflies, chickens, dirt, water, painting and just being outside running and being "free". I don't mind my kids coming home a little dirty - that just means they had a meaningful day. They seemed to try to keep them as neat as possible, but that's an impossible task with kids! They also made the meals and ate outside whenever it was possible.
Very inadequate for children. The owner is a bully and tries to micromanage the parents. She threatens DHS like its going out of style. It's not a safe place for a family that is trying to be grounded. Its not run with ethics, love, compassion or understanding.
