Marla is AMAZING! She truly cares for those kids as if they were her own. She has a true passion for what she does and the kids absolutely love her!!

This review is long but worth the honest opinion on how one in home daycare and the teamwork with Marla the owner provided the best foundation for my son.

As a first-time mom during a pandemic nothing gets more challenging than finding a spot in a daycare when your company gives you two weeks' notice that you are expected back in the office. Utter panic ensued as I spent more time researching childcare then I did at my job. I looked into nannies, commercial daycares, and finally in-home daycare. To be completely upfront I really had a negative perception on daycares in people's homes. I pictured them as cluttered, toys in one room blocked with a gate and tacky décor but I was desperate, so I started going down the list of potential places. After two same day video interviews, I was feeling defeated, and I had one more place to call. With very low expectations at this point, I called Marla from Richards Family Daycare. She was last on my original list and referred by another daycare that happened to be full. It was late afternoon, and I must have spoken to her for an hour. When I ended the call, I was so impressed I ran to tell my boyfriend I think I may have found a place but let's wait until we visit tomorrow.

When I entered her home, I couldn't believe what I saw, no toys everywhere, no gates and no tacky décor. I mean her house was cleaner than mine and she was watching 4 kids a day. I felt my stress level instantly melt away and as we talked and went over things in her backyard, I knew I had found the perfect place for my son.

My son just celebrated his one-year anniversary with Marla, and I can't thank her enough. Her clean and organized house wasn't just for show the day we toured. And I know that because she sends daily texts with pictures and videos of the kids. My son has learned manners, social skills, he helps clean up, he knows his colors, numbers, and many words. At the beginning of the year, she even provided us with a goals sheet. It's only August and I think he has accomplished almost all of them. I attribute that to the co-parenting nature of her daycare. We work at home reinforcing the good behavior she teaches, and I could not have asked for a more loving environment.

Marla goes above and beyond with the art projects, books they read, walks in the neighborhood and communication with the parents. She even provides two meals and snacks for the kids. The value that you receive is far beyond what she charges. Everyday my son goes to her house, I feel that he is safe and cared for and that really takes a lot of stress off me.

As you can tell, I really can't say enough good things about Marla. I just wish I had more kids to send to her daycare. When the time comes, I will miss my son going to her house, but I know Marla will also be our friend and special to our family.

My wife and I couldn't be happier with Richards Family Day Care. Our son has been with Marla for over a year seeing how excited he gets when he simply hears her name is worth every penny.

One of the best parts are her daily updates, so we get to see them play and do fun activities and know that he is in good hands. The community that Marla has created is awesome, sometimes she will host holiday events where the parents have a chance to connect and see the kids play together - it's always a blast.

My wife and I are expecting another and we are without a doubt going to approach Marla when it's time for them to go to day care.

Thank you for everything Marla!

We are SO happy to have Marla in our lives! Our 2.5-year-old son has been going to her daycare for over a year and we couldn't be happier.

Marla does such a wonderful job of keeping all the kids entertained and busy during the day. We love to receive the constant updates, photos, and videos of the day's activities! She provides delicious and nutritious meals and snacks--which is so helpful and appreciated.

Personally, my most favorite thing about Marla is that she does the most adorable activities with the kids. My son is always coming home with new art and new books to show us. I absolutely love it!

If you're looking for an incredible at-home daycare for your little one, I couldn't recommend Marla more. She's so incredible!

We are so grateful to have found Richards Daycare! Marla is such a blessing to not just my 15 month but our entire family! Having become a mama during the pandemic - we didn't have the normal opportunities mamas get to learn from their family and friends - but we were lucky to learn so much from Marla. She is an expert at schedules and knowing what kids need when they need it. As first time parents, we naively thought we didn't need regular childcare help but once we started with Marla - we were amazed at how much better our lives were. No more worrying about babysitters and coordinating with multiple people, it became simple and easy.

Marla is very good at what she does and treats the children as if they were her own. We were amazed when our son came home with little crafts and small gifts for the holidays. She also has all the cool toys which means we don't have to buy everything. Thank goodness!

Our little guy was reluctant at first to be apart from us for hours at a time. Dropoffs were hard BUT now he walks right in and plops down at the table ready to eat a homemade breakfast and is as happy as can be! And we feel confident and at peace knowing that he's in good hands!

One last super helpful thing is Marla sends us multiple messages throughout the day with videos and photos showing us what the kids are up to. We're never worried and are so grateful to have found this daycare! Thanks Marla!

My husband and I were new to California and the San Jose area, so when we were looking for care for our 6 month old daughter, especially during COVID, we were nervous about picking the right daycare.

Marla listened to our concerns about COVID and has been so careful with the kids & parents at her daycare. Marla was absolutely incredible for our daughter! She sent tons of pictures & videos everyday, showing her interacting with the other kids, how her napping schedule was going etc. Marla would talk to us each afternoon about how the day went, if there were any changes to the schedule and if noticed anything new / different that we should know. Our daughter absolutely blossomed when she was with Marla, and Marla made the transition to daycare so easy for us.

Unfortunately our jobs moved us to another state, where we compare every daycare to how great Marla is. We can't wait to come back and visit or have Marla visit us soon!

My husband and I are so glad we found Marla and Richard's Family Daycare on As a first time mom, I was very nervous about picking a daycare for my daughter but Marla eased all my concerns on the first phone call.

Our daughter started with Marla at four months old and she was so helpful in getting her on a regular nap and eating schedule. Our daughter is two now and is just as comfortable at Marla's as she is at home. Marla's home is safe, clean and welcoming. Her backyard is a garden space with plenty of toys and room for the kids to play and learn. Marla is patient and always has a positive attitude.

I will never forget the morning I arrived for drop-off only to find out too late that my daughter had had a diaper blowout. Marla kindly took my soiled and smelly baby from my arms, told me it was no problem, and pointed out I should probably go home to change my now soiled work shirt. Thank you, Marla! :)

Marla's energy, patience and positive attitude are the perfect combination for someone who spends all day with kids. She is honest, straightforward and clear with her expectations for the kids, their parents and herself. Her daycare focuses on safety and fun but also learning and independence for all the kids. We consider Marla part of our family and trust her to provide the very best care for our daughter.

We are so happy we found Miss Marla! I knew from the moment I spoke to her on the phone that she would be just the person to care for our two girls from ages 11 months and 2 at the beginning! Miss Marla watched our girls for almost a year and in that time, they learned so much! They were always doing fun art projects, took lots of walks and learned how to do lots of things themselves. Miss Marla was also so kind and compassionate. I would recommend her to anyone looking for a fun, learning environment for their kids!

We couldn't be happier with Marla. Our youngest went to Marla from 6 months - 2.5 years. Marla cares deeply about every child and family. She is wonderful about sending pictures and videos of fun moments and she always provides amazing opportunities for kids. They do fun art projects, go for walks, had personalized hats, fun water time when it was hot, toy play time, and time outside and inside. Marla is so patient and helps the kids really speak kindly to one another. She is also a great communicator with families if there's anything that might help your child grow, she is great about sharing what might help them grow. As a working mom, most of all, I was comforted to know that my daughter felt at home and was treated with so much love and kindness. I couldn't ask for anything more.

Marla is an AMAZING individual and provides exceptional care. I can't say enough good things about how well she treats the children and how she truly goes above and beyond. My son looked forward to go to Marla's and still raves about how much he misses her on a daily basis. Marla treats every child in her daycare as if they were one of her own. She is reliable, honest, kind and passionate about what she does. It's a great feeling to know that when you drop your kid off that they are in good hands, thank you Marla!!!

Miss Marla has been caring for my two children for the past year. She is wonderful with the kids. I know they are fed well and well taken care of. Marla interacts with the children and fosters independence. My children have been very happy there and in turn this mommy has been very happy there! I told Marla she can use me as a reference if anyone would like to speak with me personally about the great care she gives. Thank-you Miss Marla! =)

Although in the end we were unable to use Marla's daycare due to her not being open on Mondays, I did visit her daycare during the day when her daycare kids were there and I really wish it would have worked out for us. She took the time to sit with me and answer my questions about daycare in general, her style of interacting with the kids, etc. and I was really impressed. It was easy to see that all of the kids love her and really felt right at home with her. She was great with the kids and had lots of fun activities and games for them to play with. If ever she opens up on Mondays, I will seriously consider swithcing daycares so that we can go to Marla's!

Marla is amazing. When you walk in you can feel the love and care she has and gives all the kids. Even at the end of the day she is still as happy and bright as she was that morning. I have been using her on and off as needed. She is very accommodating and very respectful to all needs. I couldn't ask for nor would i use anyone else.. Even my baby loves Marla's house.

We are so happy to work with Marla. She is friendly, loving and caring. She follows the state mandated ratios to assure quality care and balance of attention. Sometimes my work schedule changes and Marla has been very flexible. As a parent with a small child in her care, I appreciate that Marla looks at the big picture and determines what is best for the development and well being of all the children in her care. During my visits to Marla's daycare, I have observed how she has put in the extra effort to assure a positive experience so much that she has been agreeable to extend trial basis periods at family's requests because she is optimistic and hopeful that children with behavioral or separation anxiety challenges will flourish. However, some children do take longer than others to fully transition. We are very pleased with Marla and will continue to recommend her and send her referrals.

I find it very unfortunate to read such a less than accurate review on Marla and her daycare. I have, in fact, observed her daycare on many occasions and have seen how well she works with all the kids. I know she does her best with each and every child in her care and always remains open minded and energetic. She has been nothing but a positive influence on my child and I'm sure "booting" (which there is a 2 week adjustment period anyway) a child is a very hard decision, but is made in the best interest of all the children. Nothing she ever does is intended as a business motivation but more so for the children. Marla has been very accommodating and I couldn't be happier with her. She is a wonderful, caring woman and I definitely recommend her.

My experience with Miss Marla has been more than disheartening. My 9 month old daughter started with her on 10/1/14 and Marla more than reassured me that she could handle a high-needs infant. Over the next few months she said that my daughter was doing great. I can remember one bad day after her initial 3 week adjustment period. However, when Miss Marla's daycare became more busy she decided to give us the boot. It is very convenient timing considering I just paid her holidays, Thanksgiving, Xmas Eve, Xmas Day, NYE, and NY Day. On 1/21/15 she gave us a two week notice because she was "changing her daycare" and could no longer care for "high needs infants". Also very convenient timing because she has been in business exactly one year and can now legally take on more kids. Another motivation for booting my baby who had already become attached. She is a business woman first and foremost. Not to mention she cried when I mentioned that a policy seemed unfair and basically chewed me out on our first day because I showed up later than she expected. Granted the day before she said there is no problem dropping the kids off late and chuckled. She speaks very directly but expects you to be overly considerate of her. High strung individual!!!

We love Miss Marla! She has watched our son since he was 3 months old and made my transition back to work much easier than I thought it would be. During our first meeting, she was so open and easy to speak with. She answered all of the questions I had, and even those I didn't realize I needed to ask. She is kind, but firm, loving, patient, and energetic; everything we could ever ask for in a day care provider. I am so excited to watch our son grow up with her in his life.

I am so happy to have found Miss Marla! After searching and researching and finally finding her- I am so happy. She is energetic, fun and cares about my son who is a high energy 2 1/2 year old. She encourages good manners and to use his words and has helped with the potty training, too! he always wants to go to Miss Marla's house to play! Every week he comes home with a fun craft that they've done together- it's hard to get him to leave sometimes! I've never seen her down or tired or anything but positive! It's a great feeling to know my child is in good hands- and she provides a safe and fun environment where he can grow and have fun. With another one on the way, I would trust her with this one as well. I also love that she teaches positive reinforcement. He plays hard, and sleeps well after a day with her! Love her.

We are so happy to have found Marla!! My two kids (ages 4 and 6) are so happy to see her and so comfortable in her care. Marla is full of energy and kindness, and I feel confident that my kids are safe and well cared for. They always come home with crafts and projects and stories of fun things they've done with her. She has been flexible with our schedule too, being very willing to provide after-school care hours for my older child, which is not always easy to find. A bonus for my husband and me is the value she sets on manners, helping reinforce these concepts with them in a gentle way. We all love Marla!

Marla has been taking care of our little guy for ~5months now. He is almost 9 months. Wow, what a HUGE blessing she is to our family! Leaving your child is one of the hardest things for a parent to do. She did everything possible to ease the transition and make it easier on him and on me and my husband. I met with her a couple times before going back to works so my son could be a little more familiar with her and her home. She is great! She is full of compassion, patience, joy, energy and love. She listens to us, gives us feedback on how he did during the day, and most importantly genuinely LOVES our son. I think one of the best measurements of a caregiver is how the child responds to the caregiver. Little ones are very perceptive and sensitive. Our little guy loves her (as does his older brother who is 4 and goes to preschool). Big brother wants to get out of the car every morning to say "Hi" to Marla when we drop little brother off at her home! He even asks to stay and play there some days which is huge because he loves his preschool!! Our little guy is happy when we drop him off at Marla's and just as happy when we pick him up! We are so thankful we found Marla and know our son is in amazing hands!

I have known Marla for about 4 years. She is very punctual, kind, loving, and considerate. I think that she will do an outstanding job as a daycare provider. She has a lot of energy which is needed when working with children. She has a very clean and organized home. She lives in a nice neighborhood which is kid friendly. She is patient and I believe that children would thrive in her care. Thank you, Nancy.

Marla is very trustworthy and loves children. She cared for all 3 of my children who are now teenagers and young adults. We love Marla because she is very loving and attentive and high energy. She loves to play with the kids and make them smile. My kids still remember playing and making chocolate chip cookies with Marla. Feel free to contact me. I will give strong recommendations.
