My Sister's Choice specializes in providing non-medical, in-home companion care for the elderly. We offer many in-home services including companionship, light housekeeping, laundry, meal planning and preparation, incidental transportation, errand running, and personal bathing and grooming assistance.

My Sister's Choice is not a franchise but an individually owned company whose caregivers are employees. The owner's career spanned more than 40 years within the non-profit world, a senior leader of operations and development for special populations, including autism and developmental disabilities.

Her sister became seriously ill and was hospitalized and subsequently sent to a rehabilitation center for several months and was released to her own home. It was clear that she would need some support and companionship; her older son, who lived nearby and shouldered most of the care, traveled quite a bit, as did she, and her younger son, an EMT, lived 300 miles away.

They were fortunate to find non-medical, home-based caregivers who provided shopping, meal preparation, laundry, and household help and also magically shared the laughter, sadness, pain, hope, and tenderness that characterize illness and recovery. Their companionship brought comfort to her sister and gratitude and relief to the family, knowing she was in competent, comforting hands.

Those images of caring and connection never faded as Ms. C. pondered her next life chapter. Over time, and a great deal of research, she decided to replicate the non-medical, home-based senior care concept in Montgomery County and dedicate best practices to her sister and to all of those capable and caring companions who shared a remarkable two years of their lives.
