Our son has been at Mariposas for a year now, and we couldn't be happier. He is learning a lot; his ability to communicate in both Spanish and English is well above his peers. Best of all, he is so happy to be in Sonia's care every day.
Sonia emphasizes learning through play, provides abundant opportunities for outdoor exploration/play, and schedules special field trips to the pumpkin patch and zoo. She also provides well balanced meals that she prepares herself each day (she does not serve juice or anything with added sugar). She is very experienced and understands the in's and out's of discipline and potty training as well. To our family, she isn't just a care provider. She is a mentor to us as parents and a third grandmother to our child.

Our daughter has been in Sonia's care since she was 5 months old. She has developed so much because of Mariposas and we absolutely love sending her there! Our daughter gets so much one-on-one attention and we really feel like Sonia is a second mother to her while we are not there. Sonia is very flexible with her scheduling too. I have to work early in the morning in Raleigh and I'm able to drop her off before most daycares can even open.

My 22 month old son has been at Mariposas for eight months and in that time he's learned many new things. From eating with utensils to giving kisses, he has gained important life skills. He has also picked up many Spanish words and become friends with a diverse group of kids. Mariposa's has become his second home and he enjoys being there. The kids spend a lot of time outside, do arts and crafts, circle time, and play. Sonia, the owner, makes delicious healthy food for them. Sonia is always willing to talk and she provides details about how each day went and gives parenting guidance when needed. She is flexible with schedules and reasonable. I highly recommend Sonia and Mariposas.

Our son has been at Mariposas since he was 8 months old and just crawling around, now he is 2 1/2. He LOVES it there. He has had the benefit of being in a small group with kids of different ages, and has learned to interact with kids a year or two older, as well as younger than him. He speaks a lot of Spanish, even at home, and comes home every day with new craft or work of "art" to proudly show me. They sit around a little table for their meals, they learn to share, they have circle time, nap time, they get potty trained, lots of outdoor play time...they do everything that a l would want from an institutional day care, but its in a home environment. Hours are much more flexible than I could find anywhere else, and the price is fantastic. Sonia (who runs the day care), is truly wonderful with the kids, and I feel really lucky we found her to help in the care and raising of our son. I strongly recommend this place to anyone and everyone. You won't be disappointed.
