My mother has been in a couple of retirement communities the last one being the gallery at Port Orange this was nothing but a very expensive cosmetic place it offered no home like atmosphere she started at Heritage but was taken out because she wanted to be closer to friends, at the age of 92 soon to be 93 in March she went back to Heritage which she should have never left being an activities director and having been licensed and two years in geriatrics I'm extremely familiar with facilities of this nature I've never been more pleased with the staff who obviously enjoy their job as did I it was not a job it was my passion everyone that I've met there seems to have the same feeling they have been so kind to me as well as my mother she can be a little difficult and I may hear a little chuckling in the background because whoever reads this will know who it comes from but they remain professional and genuinely loving and caring sadly sometimes outside influences can cause her difficulties I have nothing but pure gratitude and many kudos to every single staff member I'm going to in a good way, even housekeeping everyone is delightful no one wants to put their mother or father into a so-called home but at 62 and with my own physical difficulties it was my only choice she likes it there she has a little dog Dusty who they help her walk him as she is unable to see well ,anytime I call they go away out of their way to do anything that is requested honestly anyone looking for genuine caring and a loving home type environment this is the place I mean you could go to the gallery in Port Orange and pay the outrageous price of 6,000,a mo. Just remember you ,dont always get what you pay for,and have the coldness and very expensive strictly cosmetically to where when your new or alone and you're unable to even speak to the staff or they will get fired to me that's ridiculous as hiring and firing many people through my time as an activities director if you did not connect with the residents than this was not your passion and perhaps not the job for you I was so glad when she moved back into the heritage if you're looking or considering for a place for someone you
love, first speak to the residents of course who understand thats where you will see how many of the residents are happy and healthy! Than open up to the staff,and you will see what I saw...A warm and inviting atmosphere with people who enjoy there jobs!! give this place a look I promise you won't look twice I care about and thank all the staff who has put up with my mother and some of her cuckoo friends and a cuckoo daughter but we all love her and I can't speak for the others but my gratitude is immense thank you for being so good to my mother as well as myself I think you know who I am now LOL sincerely and genuinely, Mary Lou Corson AKA, Betsy and my mother's faithful little friend Dusty
