Crossway Community Montessori School

Crossway Community Montessori School aims to cultivate every child s own natural desire to learn. We aim to cultivate curious, compassionate, self-directed, socially responsible citizens who work collaboratively, respectfully, and peacefully as interdependent learners in a diverse community.

Three levels of child care and educational environments are provided by Montessori-trained educators. Each environment is specially prepared and developmentally appropriate to meet the needs of children moving through successive phases of development and invites the child to active, purposeful engagement with learning.

Nido (Italian word for nest) - ages 3 to 18 mos. Within this carefully organized space, children explore their surroundings, developing independent movement, perception, and language skills.

Infant Community - ages 18 mos to 3 yrs. It is specifically designed to assist the child as his/her mobility and language continue to develop. The environment stresses socialization and language enrichment, allows for purposeful work with the hands, and encourages repetition. The concept of choice becomes central to children at this age, and the opportunity to select work based on interest allows each child s concentration, self-confidence, and independence to grow.

Primary Program - ages 3 to 6 yrs. The environment is carefully prepared using Montessori principles that allow the children to choose work according to their interests and developmental level. Children explore basic concepts of literacy, numeracy, geography, music, art and care of self and the environment. Extended day hours are available for ages 3 & 4.
