About the business
THE COLORADO WALKIES PROMISE.
1. To care for your Best Friend with Fur as if he or she is our own.
2. To have amazing, out-of-control FUN every minute of every walkie.
In 2010, Matthew & Megan Meyer founded a company, called The Bear & The Rat: Cool Treats for Dogs, which produces healthful, probiotic frozen yogurt for dogs. The treats are currently available for sale in Whole Foods Market, King Sooper stores and independent retailers throughout the state of Colorado.
While we have been building our product business, we have both worked 'other' jobs. Not because we're afraid to leave our jobs. It's really a matter of economics; we have not had an opportunity to leave our other jobs and be fiscally responsible. A wholesale business is a business that thrives on volume. Until we're doing roughly 8 times what we're doing in business, neither one of us will not be able to draw a salary.
We're just not okay with not being 100% entrenched in the dog industry any longer. For several months, we've been quietly growing our client base, and are thrilled to finally launch Colorado Walkies, a sister company to The Bear & The Rat: Cool Treats for Dogs. Colorado Walkies enables us to live & breathe dogs during the week. It's a completely different business model, so it allows us to have a team of dedicated staffers. That way, when we need to handle something for the other side of the business, we can. This is a win-win for us, and we are feeling renewed, invigorated and ready to rock this thing.
