As the owner of ACT Learning Center, I personally have nine years' experience in education and tutoring. I have a bachelor's degree in early childhood/elementary education from Western Oregon University as well as an Oregon teaching license. I was a private tutor during the summer months from 2000-2004. In 2005, I became a substitute teacher in many elementary schools in Jackson County and a tutor at tutoring center, tutoring students in beginning reading, academic reading, math, writing, study skills and homework. In 2006 I became the educational director at the tutoring center, monitoring up to 100 students' programs and meeting with teachers and parents. I then became a center director in 2008. I am currently working towards my master's in curriculum and instruction with an endorsement in literacy. The philosophy behind ACT Learning Center is that each child learns differently, and in order to learn new skills and successfully utilize them, students may need additional one-on-one instruction.
