I am so picky about where I sent my daughter. I came from CA where I sent my daughter to a top day care and thought I would NEVER find anywhere I liked every. I tried other places in Vancouver and was unhappy. I found Salmon Creek and was skeptical, but it was clean and had so many great books and learning toys and the teachers seemed so engaged when we toured, so I gave it a shot. I could not be happier. My daughter is thriving and is amazing me daily with what she is learning. I talk to the teachers daily and they always have updates. I get photos (multiple) throughout the day, and she can't stop talking about her class, her friends and her teachers and she is only 2. I am so thankful that I never have to worry about her at Salmon Creek. Kayte is absolutely wonderful and is always available when I have a question. Not sure what was going on in the past, but I do know that people love to write about the negative, and forget to write about the positive. I am here to tell you that this place is absolutely amazing and I trust them completely.

I dont know what these people are talking about!!! My kids have been going to this location for almost 3 years. My 4 year old has sensory issues and speech delays, so I am very careful who I leave my kids with. My almost 3 year old has been with this center since she was 6 weeks old. I honestly think the people who wrote the other reviews are out of their mind!!!
DO NOT GO HERE. The staff is absolutely horrific, and the director is the hottest mess I've ever seen in my life. It's about as white trash as it gets.
DO NOT.... go and make an appointment to view the facility. I went to see if this place was a good fit for my daughter. My husband and I decided it was not. not only is there a lot of kids to one teacher but, it is pretty pricey. A couple of months passed after going to view the Kinder Care in Salmon Creek and I notice there is a negative mark on my collections report. Kinder Care sent me to collections for $100, why!? I called the facility and the lady I spoke to told me that she could not answer any questions because she did not have access to the account. I would have to call the collection agency. I am now fighting with the collection agency to get the negative account removed. Long story short, I never took my daughter there and I'm not paying for services that were not rendered.

NOTE: ask if you will be charged before you view the establishment!!

Do not bring your children here. Don't make the same mistake my husband and I did.

First off, check the Washington State Department of Early Learning Childcare Check webpage ( for information on any past inspections performed on any prospective daycare you are considering for your child. Before even considering Salmon Creek Kindercare, please look at their past inspections.

Here is a link to the report from a Child Protective Services inspection regarding an incident involving my 3 month old son in April 2015:

He was at Salmon Creek Kindercare for 3 weeks when one of the teachers became frustrated with him for "being fussy" and flipped him over and dropped him to the floor on his belly from nearly a foot off the ground. According to CPS's findings,

"The director [Kayte Lucas] had knowledge of the mental health concerns of [the teacher I described above who dropped my son] and allowed the staff to continue to work in an infant classroom unsupervised. The licensor and center staff observed questionable behaviors of the person and reported them to the director who failed to take appropriate action. Previously the person was given written warnings more than once for her verbal and physical actions toward children."

When we confronted Kayte Lucas after we learned of the incident TWO DAYS LATER she kept repeating the phrase "this doesn't happen here", I guess meaning that child abuse doesn't happen here? I resented that then and I resent it now because yes, it does happen there. It happened to our infant son under her watch. I implore you to look for another daycare.

Do not bring your children here.

Never trust these people with your children! Not only are they RUDE and unorganized, but they also let my son cry hysterically for so long her started gagging and puking on himself! Then they called me and told me "something was wrong with him and he needed to go home"...when I picked him up he still had puke dripping from his hands and face and was stuck in a corner isolated by himself! I am a certified teacher and I would never trust them with any of my 3 children!

I would not recommend this place to a friend. My daughter is neglected. She is always so hungry and thirsty when she gets home and the teachers can never tell me if she ate anything for lunch. There is 1 teacher to 10 kids and the teachers are not qualified to handle that many children at once. It is also VERY expensive. They claim to be a preschool but dont do anything different for the kids attending "preschool" than they do for the day care kids... they just force you to pay more if you want "preschool".
