I began my childcare experience at home with 3 younger brothers, the last born when I was almost 13 years old. I saved for college by working as a babysitter and as a Children's Library Assistant for 5 years. During college I nannied every summer, taught in my church, and continued to babysit. After graduation and marriage, my husband and I became foster parents while pursuing a birth child, but it didn't happen.
After 7 years of marriage, my husband died. I went back to school, continuing to nanny in the summers, babysit, and peer tutor. Before I could finish my degree, I was blessed with an extremely premature daughter.
When she was older and more stable, I finished my teaching degrees, and taught in the Public Schools for 12 years, nannying every summer. Unfortunately, my daughter didn't flourish in KPS, so I became a full-time nanny and moved west of town until she graduated. I have since continued nannying, and find it a fulfilling and satisfying career path.
