Spotting red flags from interactions with families

Recognize when job posts, reviews, or messages may signal unsafe or misleading intentions with families.

Spotting red flags from interactions with families

Last month, we shared tips on how to spot fake job offers — from inflated pay rates to hidden contact information. This month, we want to expand on that by highlighting other red flags that may show up in your interactions with families (job posts, messages, and reviews).

Here are some to watch out for:

  • Mismatch in Details: A job title doesn’t match the description (e.g., childcare job listing that actually describes senior care).
  • Unfamiliar Reviews: Don’t contact anyone who requests that you connect with them through a review. Report reviews from anyone you don’t recognize to our safety team.
  • Off-Platform Pressure:  Families very quickly push to move the conversation from the platform to phone or email.

🚨 If any interaction feels suspicious, trust your instincts. Report it right away through our Safety Hotline: 737-703-3620.
