If your family loves sushi, or wants to be one of the funniest, cutest family-costumes on the block, have a roll of a time with these easy-to-make sushi costumes - with you as the chef, of course.

2+ People

Chef Materials:

  • Martial arts top or chef's shirt (can even wear white shirt and apron)
  • White bandana (or old white t-shirt, torn to create headband)
  • Red and black Sharpies
  • Black pants
  • Black sneakers

Step 1: Make iconic headband by drawing a red circle in the center (symbolic of Japanese flag) and Japanese symbols on either side. Use this site to draw symbols that might have specific meaning to you.

Step 2: Put on outfit: shirt, pants, headband and sneakers. You can also print out this Red Dragon logo and tape to shirtsleeve.

Sushi Roll Materials:

  • White long sleeve shirt
  • White pants
  • White sneakers
  • Safety pins
  • Orange pillow (can also use colored tights stuffed with Poly-fill batting). Note: if you have multiple kids, use pink, red, and yellow pillows too.
  • Bright "wasabi" green felt
  • Black tights
  • Double-sided tape

Step 1: Put on white shirt, pants and sneakers.

Step 2: Place orange pillow on your child's back. Tie black tights around to hold in place. Tuck excess tight material into costume.

Step 3: Cut 2-inch diameter circle out of green felt. Use double sided tape to stick on the tights, as wasabi. You're ready to roll!
