what age should children be left home alone.

I live in Wisconsin and here there is no legal age of when a child can be left home alone. This is a question that I aften have to answer at my job. As a rule I always say that toddlers and babies can not be left home alone. It is up to the parent's discression as to what age they feel comfortable leaving their child home alone. We have a nanny for our three children ages 10, 8, and 6 for after school care. Times are different as to when I was growing up and walked to and from school. I remember being in the 4th grade letting myself in the house and being along until my older sisters came home later.
