My career in education began with six years of teaching general academic subjects to small private school classes, in grades fifth through eighth. However, I soon specialized in computer, German, and Latin instruction instead, and expanded my age range into senior high. Throughout the past five years, I have spent an increasing amount of time tutoring in the areas of mathematics, Latin, and German and this is the direction which I would like to pursue at this time. I find that students' progress in the tutoring situation is much more rapid than in even very small classes, and that this is particularly impressive in the area of foreign languages. I enjoy tutoring German because of the time I spent living and working in Heidenheim-an-der-Brenz and because of the precision of the language. Latin appeals to me because of my fascination with ancient Roman culture and because of its compact method of expression. Mathematics at the middle school level has a unique appeal, and that it's logic is sophisticated, but not yet abstract.
