I speak both Spanish and English fluently and could tutor English to students who speak it as their second language. Outside of the classroom, I was an assistant coach for the fourth to sixth grade girl's basketball team while in the 10th grade. I also played basketball for seven years and was the captain of my high school's junior basketball team. I have much experience in the classroom and working with students one on one. In the 9th grade, I was a teacher's assistant in a 6th grade classroom for a week. For my final two years in high school, I volunteered at my church as the teacher of the first grade girl's class (not academic) for two years. Also, I volunteered at a local elementary school for a couple weeks observing and assisting the teacher. I have been working at a franchised learning center for two years as the lead reading instructor, providing extra help with English grammar, reading comprehension and independent learning. I have worked with students with disabilities such as ADD, ADHD, and Autism at the learning center. I also have experience working with students who speak English as a second language at this center. I am majoring in English education at the University of South Florida, and will hopefully be graduating in Spring 2011. I enjoy working with students of all ages, but have the most experience with elementary and middle school aged children. English and teaching have been my passion since I was in elementary school. I believe that education is the most important thing a child receives, and the deserve the best education that can be offered.

I love writing-anything from poetry to simplistic essays about personal experiences. I like reading, playing board games, playing with my puppy, or watching sports on TV, like basketball, baseball and football.
