Profile of Angela S.
Part-Time, 3 Years of Experience
As an undergraduate student, I often found myself helping my classmates with homework and projects. After my freshman year, I became a course assistant, and helped the next three classes of freshmen with math, physics, and engineering. I really enjoy tutoring--it's wonderful to be able to help a student come to understand something and gain confidence in his/her own abilities.Math has always been my favorite subject. I have the most experience tutoring calculus (single and multivariable), but also some experience tutoring algebra and partial differential equations. I also enjoy physics and engineering.
I'm not completely technically-minded, however; I also enjoy writing, and am always the first to offer to edit a friend's paper, report, or blog entry. Although my degree is in engineering, I completed a concentration and capstone course in political science, and spent a semester studying abroad in Italy at a liberal arts college. I speak some Italian, and I was nearly fluent in Spanish in high school (and have retained my understanding of Spanish grammar, as well as some of the vocabulary). When I took the GRE, I actually scored higher on the verbal section than on the math section, and got a perfect score on the writing section.
Although I can't say that I love standardized tests, I'm certainly happy to help others prepare for them. I got a perfect score on the SAT when I took it (6 years ago) after taking an SAT prep course, and I'd love to pass on my test prep and test taking strategies.
