I served as the Public Service Head in high school, and I worked alongside the faculty to arrange opportunities for students to participate in various community service projects. My favorite activity was serving as a tutor in an after-school program for low income students/families. Our role was to tutor the kids in a wide variety of subjects and ensure that all of their homework was finished before they were allowed to go outside and play.

In college, I served as a tutor for mentally challenged children who attended a school in a very poor and dangerous town outside of Nashville, Tennessee. It was very humbling to spend time with the kids, and know that they were getting the proper attention and stimulation that they deserved.

One summer during college I worked for a Montessori toddler house and a preschool. I got to know a lot about the Montessori philosophy, and had a great time working with a wide range of age groups.
