In addition to my professional experience and credentials, my personal background makes me an ideal tutor. I am a Caucasian who was born and raised in Japan. As a result, I grew up being both bilingual and bi-cultural, and was also an ESL student for part of that time. This background has given me a high level of empathy for nonnative speakers and for diverse populations, which serves me well not only in classroom and tutoring situations, but in life.
