I have a lifetime of experience teaching cooking, sewing, budgeting, shopping, and basic life skills to Girl Scouts, adults with mental illness as well as for my own children. I have taken a course in teaching basic living skills to challenged youth and adults. I ran a ceramics studio for a nonprofit recovery program where I taught ceramics, beading and machine sewing to adults with mental illness. I have countless volunteer and paid hours tutoring reading skills to economically disadvantaged community members, and have read to vision impaired people. I have read for the Washington Post "Reading for the Blind" edition. I really enjoy one-on-one activities where I am helping teach or reinforce new or emerging skills.
