Daniel C. - San Antonio Tutor or Private Instructor

Profile of Daniel C.

Part-Time, 4 Years of Experience

I worked for a physics professor as a researcher and a lab teaching assistant from February 2008 to July 2009. I was a science tutor for the on-campus tutoring service from October 2007 to July 2009; I tutored biology, genetics, general/organic/biochemistry, physics I and II, cell/molecular biology. I tutored disabled students through the school as well as through the Texas Department of Rehabilitative and Assisted Services from January 2009 to July 2009. I tutored students privately one-on-one in numerous science and early college math courses from January 2007 to July 2009.
I really enjoy helping people from all walks of life in all different subjects. I see it as a way for me to give back to the local community.
I prefer to tutor using the Socratic Method. I don't simply give out answers to students, I facilitate the students to let them find the answers based on what they already know by asking questions to lead them in the right direction. It does tend to take longer, but my students always remember the material better than from simply being given the answers. While I've mostly tutored upper-level students (high school and college) I love working with children and have lots of experience helping my younger relatives and friends' children with their studies in many subjects.
Related Hobbies and Interests
I'm very outgoing, but I can also enjoy hanging out with my friends or just watch movies with my girlfriend. I enjoy playing music, mainly percussion and guitar. As a tutor, I keep a laid back and relaxed attitude, but still focus on the subject.
