I am available to tutor in all subjects for school grades K-7. I can help teenagers and adults learn or improve in English, history, literature, other humanities subjects, and violin.

I recently graduated from University of California, San Diego with a degree in history. I maintained a 3.7 GPA and received Provost's honors. Studying history not only made me knowledgeable about historical events, but it also improved my writing, research, analytical, and communication skills. I consider myself to be excellent in these fields and well qualified to tutor in history, English, literature, and writing. I like to maintain a balanced style of relaxed, yet time-efficient tutoring sessions. I believe it is crucial to remain supportive and patient and I do my best to be sensitive to my student's way of thinking. I am very articulate and always find the most simple and clear way to explain things. Most important, though, is that the student learns to have fun with the subject!

I am also a professional classical violinist available to teach violin lessons. I have played in numerous orchestras and chamber ensembles for musicals, weddings, and special events. I teach at the beginning or intermediate level and can teach using the Suzuki method or without it, whichever the student prefers. The most defining aspect of my teaching style is my motivation to inspire my students to play music-- this has been the driving factor in my career as a musician and so I want to cultivate this sentiment in my students, as well! In other words, while learning the technique needed to be a good violinist is crucial, developing an emotional relationship with the music is just as important.

I also take photos in my spare time and work as an office manager for a professional photographer in Portland.
