I have been a tutor on and off for the last eight years. I have experience with grade school through high school students in all subjects, including algebra, geometry, and calculus. I have experience tutoring privately in the students' homes and also tutoring one-on-one and in small groups in the classroom. After graduating from Lewis and Clark College with my degree in mathematics I volunteered as a math tutor at Lake Oswego High School. I am very passionate about getting kids to enjoy mathematics. I feel that there has been a slight block on the importance of mathematics in our society today. Not only does math give students the skills they need to progress in our society, but it provides the back bone for our problem solving skills. These skills are most important when discussing the future of our society. From what I've observed in my tutoring experience and in the classroom, a lot of students have a tough time with math and become discouraged easily, mostly because they have had a bad learning experience. I am passionate about making math exciting and interesting for students and making it a priority in the classroom.
