Christina S. - New York Tutor or Private Instructor
Profile of Christina S.
Full-Time, 3 Years of Experience
My name is Christina and I am a recent graduate of Vanderbilt University. I graduated with a bachelor's degree in chemistry and have returned to New York City. For the past four years of college, I have used my academic time learning everything there is to know about chemistry, from general combustion reactions to the biochemical pathway involved in methotrexate chemotherapy. My interest for the physical sciences, mathematics, and various other academics led me to pursue a tutoring career as a student at Vanderbilt. Now that I have returned to New York City, I hope to continue and expand my tutoring services. I graduated from a top private school in New York City in 2005 after 13 years of attendance. As a graduate that went on to focus on chemistry and premedical science in college, I have realized the importance of creating a strong foundation in basic science and math while still in middle and high school. My interest in working with New York City students is to better prepare them in their pursuits of scientific and mathematics careers. With that said, I believe that my academic coursework at Vanderbilt fully qualifies me to tutor students in various math, science, and language courses. As a chemistry major, I have spent the past four years of college studying various chemistry courses that include, organic, analytical, instrumental analytical, physical, medicinal chemistry, and physical organic chemistry. Of these subjects, I have privately tutored students in general and organic chemistry. I have also taken calculus and multi-variable calculus courses at Vanderbilt, in which I have also tutored. In addition, I have worked with a younger demographic of students, and have taught pre-algebra, algebra I, algebra II, geometry, high school chemistry, AP chemistry, SAT II chemistry, SAT II math IC, SAT I math, SAT I verbal, general biology, and Latin. Finally, I am also fluent in Japanese and highly proficient in Italian, and can offer my services as a language tutor, as well. Because of my age, I have an ability to relate to young students and believe that I can create an enjoyable atmosphere for my students, which helps cut out the dryness of traditional classrooms. Although my expertise lies in instilling a love of academics and a passion to excel in school, I am still, nonetheless, a child at heart and can offer my services as a baby sitter, as well.
