Profile of Carrie W.
Part-Time, 2 Years of Experience
I am a confident, caring, and passionate individual, who strives to inspire children to learn and become lifelong learners. The reason that I want to be a teacher is simple: I want to change the world. At first such a statement may sound very broad and cliche, but what better way to do so than to start by changing the world of a child? Every interaction and experience we have had in our lives has brought us to become the people we are at this very place and moment in time. You cannot affect the life of another person without also affecting the lives of those with whom they come into contact. To have a positive impact on just one person is to have a positive impact on the world.
Learning is an experience which can be naturally rewarding. In order to experience the rewards that learning can bring, it must be intrinsically motivating. It must be meaningful. By utilizing such an approach toward education and applying methods such as inquiry and cooperative learning, I will provide students with the opportunity to experience the joys of learning and give them the guidance needed to understand, and the tools needed to effectively function in, the world in which they live. By doing so, I believe that I will make a positive change in this world, one child at a time.
I have tutored children of all ages since 2003, and I am currently working on completing my degree for elementary, early childhood, and special education. I also have baby-sat children since 1998. In all these experiences, I have tutored or taught in a dynamic way that is both active, engaging, and relevant to the child's interests and needs.
