Karen S. - Houston Tutor or Private Instructor

Profile of Karen S.

Part-Time, 3 Years of Experience

I believe that Plato was absolutely correct - one on one learning is the only way to go! This is why for his whole life he only took on one student at a time. I think this is the best way for someone to learn, undivided attention is hard to come by in the modern schooling system. So, I am offering one-on-one tutoring services primarily for biology and chemistry for middle and high school age children. However, I would be willing as well to tutor college students needing help in any biology, chemistry, or environmental science related courses. I taught microbiology laboratory classes at Lamar University from 2004 to 2006, so I have experience teaching as well as tutoring my students. I am no nonsense, but fun, and aim to present the material in a way suited to each student's personality and learning capabilities. In addition to these school course subjects, I can tutor in cooking, basic sewing (two years experience), crochet (five years), and basic Microsoft Office applications such as Word, Excel, Outlook, and Access (10 years of experience). I am co-owner of a shop in the Montrose area called "Gypsy Daze" featuring what I like to term "wearable art" that is handcrafted by local designers only (including myself and my business partner). Our item categories include clothing, jewelry, bags, accessories, and more! I also provide baby-sitting (at least 3 years old), pet care and housekeeping services if you are interested, please check out my profiles on each for details!
Related Hobbies and Interests
I am a life learner. My major passion in life for the past two years is to learn as much about world religions and cultures back through early history as I could absorb! But I find the best way to learn is to teach and you're doing me a favor!
