I am currently a freshman in College in downtown Chicago. I will be back home in Dayton this summer beginning in mid May. I have not had any paid experiences tutoring. However, in high school I often ran study groups at my home for my friends and other people in my classes. I have tutored my younger brother who is currently in the fourth grade in social studies for the past year. He started out with a C, and I am proud to say that he is now getting an A. I have also tutored my younger cousins in math, reading and writing. I am majoring in fashion design at Columbia with a minor in management. I have taken many art classes and have wonderful resources to any needed art supplies that may be needed for a child I am tutoring. In high school, I also took two years of Spanish and two years of French. For tutoring purposes, I am only able to help out beginning Spanish students, but would be able to tutor more advanced French students. In high school, I had a 3. 8 GPA. I currently have a 3. 5 GPA here at Columbia. I have great study habits and tricks I would love to share with kids that are struggling with school. I have always excelled in writing, and would be glad to help any study in that area. Math tutoring depends on what level of math that the child needs assistance with. This is something you can feel free to ask me about since situations will vary. I feel that school should be a positive experience for kids. However, school can be a negative experience if they are struggling and are not getting the help they need. The look on a kid's face or the tone of their voice when they get a good grade in school or on a test is what makes tutoring truly rewarding.
