I recently received my Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice with a 3.7 GPA. I am currently enrolled in graduate school at IUPUI's School of Public and Environmental Affairs. I have a great deal of experience tutoring students of all ages. I have worked with young children on their reading and math skills. I tutored a student athlete in Law and Public Policy resulting in a final course grade of an A. I worked for IUPUI's Bepko Learning Center as an academic mentor. I used collaborative learning techniques that appealed to visual, auditory, and kinesthetic learners to reinforce class materials. I teach students valuable study skills and test-taking techniques. I would be comfortable tutoring K-12 students in most subjects including Algebra, Geometry, Trigonometry, Statistics, Biology, French, English, Government (I was a policy studies minor), and Writing. I am currently employed at the IU Public Policy Institute in a research position. I am uniquely qualified to help students with their academic writing. I am familiar with MLA, APA, and ASA citation formats. If there is a subject that your child is struggling with, please let me know, and I will tell you if and how I can assist. My general approach is to give my students a learning styles inventory so I can assess which types of instruction will be most effective with them. Prior to each tutoring session, I will design a plan with activities that will enhance their learning experience based on their individual needs. I will also help them with assigned homework. I will provide them with a chance to give me feedback about what is most helpful at the end of each session so I can repeat activities that are effective and eliminate those that are not. I am trained to help students deal with additional issues such as time management and stress management. I am not trying to get rich by any stretch of the imagination. I am merely trying to supplement my income because my expenses as a graduate student are quite high. I will try to work out a payment arrangement that works for you. If you are unable to pay my asking rate, that does not necessarily mean that I will not work with your child. I can provide professional and personal references upon request. I believe that a strong education is vital to lifetime achievement, and I am committed to helping today's youth excel academically. I do not mind traveling; however, I will have to increase my rate if your home is far outside of the Indianapolis area.
