I have a deep passion for language and a long-term goal of language instruction and education reform. I am a recent college graduate from Pomona College specializing in French Language and Literature with studies abroad in Paris, France. I tutored French in high school as well as college and have experience working with elementary and middle school students as a reading tutor and Teacher's Assistant. My tutoring experience has centered on strengthening students' comprehension of grammar concepts, improving pronunciation, and moving away from direct English-based translation. Outside of French, I have worked with students from diverse ethnic and socioeconomic backgrounds, providing one-on-one support to help those struggling in all subjects to master grade-level material. I was accepted into the 2009 Teach for America Corps as an elementary teacher, but chose to pursue teaching at a bilingual school in Berkeley, CA and to continue tutoring math, English, and French to students of all-levels for my own company. I believe education is the foundation for social justice and I look forward to working with all learners to promote self-awareness and communal understanding.
