It would have been better to lie... take on the assignment... do a subpar job and cause a state of instability in the child's life. Or as I did, saw that with my other assignments, that I would have been a liability. So I respectfully withdrew from the candidate pool. Because he had not researched more candidates, I am to be be held accountable for that? I was proactive... respectfully declined and was verbally abused via text message and now through a negative feedback. I have been providing service for over seven years and if I feel that I can not provide top notch and consistent service, I let the care seeker know before any real relationship or meeting ever takes place. Some providers never show up or even worse, show up and then just disappear. I choose not to work in that fashion. As an independent contractor... my business is growing much faster than I had anticipated upon our initial conversation. As time progressed I realized that I would not be able to fulfill my pre-arranged obligations so I respectfully asked to be withdrawn from the pool of candidates. I can appreciate that this caregiver only wanted me and that is quite the compliment, but life happens and one must be able to cope with life's adjustments. I really wanted to work with this family. It was not a need as I am very busy with other endeavors. However, I could see longterm that there would be scheduling conflicts and inconsistencies on my end so I thought it best to remove myself before I ever was hired. I regret that this provider perceived me to be the ideal candidate and his expectations did not come to fruition. At the same time, I do not regret being a liability to the child and simply taking money because it is there and when it is convenient only for me. I do not apologize for realizing that I would not be able to fulfill my obligations long term and being proactive about it. This review is meant to tarnish my character, but I am going to keep providing quality care to those that I can. Thank you.
