I have over 4 years experience tutoring subjects ranging from elementary reading, GED-prep, English-as-a-second-language for adults, college writing, art, high school Spanish and more.

As an AmeriCorps member, I was trained in techniques to improve adult and children's literacy and English communication skills. I break things down simplistically and focus on building a solid foundation before moving on to different topics. Both my adult learners and children that I tutored have showed gains not only with formal assessments but also in their confidence in understanding material, which actually with some students proves to be the biggest hurdle.

In art, I have extensive experience with mediums ranging from pencil drawings to watercolors and acrylics. I have worked with students as young as 2 teaching them basic art techniques to improving teenagers' (and their parents') ability to draw realistically.

With two majors in Art History and Communication, my focus in college was on reading and writing analytically whether it was about art or social issues. My senior theses were on The Food Network's website's presentations of gender and VARA, a specific art law. I also had minors in Spanish and Studio Art. Therefore my coursework also included topics ranging from Spanish film and literature to drawing.

I believe in being constructive and realistic when tutoring but most importantly believe in being a supportive and creative problem solver. If we cover a topic once, and the concept isn't sticking, I'll guide you through a different approach until you have reached your goals!
