I began tutoring for Wichita School district in 1999. I worked at Cloud Elementary School for America Reads. I taught Hispanic children to speak and read English. In turn the families taught me the dialect, so I became adequately bilingual. I also helped families with visas and a work program helping them to retain jobs.
In the last two years I worked for the McPherson School district as a tutor for the Avid program. This program is extremely valuable for the preparation that students need to get into college. I worked with them developing their skills in critical thinking as well as learning to be the best prepared for college emotionally, and scholastically. I have a degree in Sociology, which I completed with a 4.0 from Wichita State University. I also was in a program in which I was chosen by the state of Kansas to become a teacher. I went to Newman University where I got my degree in American Government and History. I only need my student teaching which I have never gotten because of financial reasons. As a tutor the last two years in high school and middle school I have tutored students every day in every subject.
I have spent the last 16 years dedicating my life to helping students achieve their goals. I am specialized also in Special Education and ESOL, and ESL.
I believe that I have the experience and knowledge to help students comprehend what they are reading and the knowledge to help them write their papers correctly. I am willing to do whatever it takes to insure progress and a sense of accomplishment for people interested in my service.
I am moving to LaQuinta, California the first week in May and would be available to travel to your home or whatever would meet your needs.
I have great passion for the learning process and have been quite successful with the students that I have helped. I believe that I can help build a great foundation that can help students to enjoy education and this process. Please let me know if anyone is interested. I would be willing to even start sooner than the second week in May on line if this would be helpful.
