I have worked at a middle school since January 2007. I work in a special education classroom dealing mainly with students with mild disabilities and learning handicaps. I work with my students daily in study periods and after school every Friday. I believe my work with special needs children has made me a better tutor and enables me to work with both learning handicapped children as well as general education students. I like to use a scaffolding approach with my students. I find what they know about the subject and build towards the problem area. I also use a lot of analogies to relate something unknown to something they do know. I can easily adapt and tend to find quickly what learning style the child has and tailor my approach to the student.
