I just began working as a para-educator at a Charter School this past November (2010). A para-educator is someone who works with special needs children. Although I haven't been doing this for very long, I seem to be a natural at it. I started as a substitute, but apparently the school liked the work that I did. They went to the district and asked to have me sent back to work with them on a regular basis. I find it both challenging and rewarding as well as extremely educational. I'm also an after school program educator at the same school during which we regularly assist the children with homework assignments.
