I attended high school at the Illinois Math and Science Academy (IMSA) in Aurora so as you might assume, math and science are my best subjects. Currently, I'm enrolled as a math major at NIU, with the hope of becoming a high school math teacher. Math and science are generally tricky subjects but I think the key to helping kids with these subjects is to be prepared to explain things in more than one way, because everyone thinks differently. I am also more than willing to tutor in other subject areas such as history or English. Test prep is also something I specialize in and enjoy.
In the past, all of my tutoring has been on a volunteer basis. In middle school, I tutored at the neighboring elementary school. In high school I participated our school's refugee tutoring program. Now, I'm looking to bring tutoring back into my life again. Also a note, during the school year I am willing to tutor on a progress basis; I get paid only proportional to how much the student improves.
There are very few things in life I have found as satisfying as learning and I want to have the opportunity to share that with others. I want to tutor because I love the level of thorough understanding that one reaches when something is taught well. I love helping someone with a calculus problem and seeing the light go on as the logical path becomes clear and a solution is reached.
