I have worked with individuals and groups K-6th grade on multiple subjects in many contexts. I have a strong background in inquiry learning and hands-on activities and feel very much that knowing something is not the same as understanding it. I strive to help children construct understanding in a learning context so that they are able to apply what they know.
I have a master in teaching, and am certified k-8 in Washington. In spring 2012, I will earn an added endorsement in Science. I have a broad background in reading readiness and reading research. I have extensive classroom experience at the k-5 level and worked as a first grade teacher.
I offer a variety of services including assessment-based progress tracking, customized curricula that aligns with state EALRS and GLES as well as class curricula, and parent email updates and progress reports.
