I enjoy and believe in tutoring for several reasons. I like the challenge of discovering what approaches will help an individual respond to, and the uninterrupted focus on the individual. I am passionate about learning and the value of education, and I understand and appreciate that every individual learns a bit differently. Thus, tutoring is something I feel good about on many levels. I get to help others, I learn from each tutoring session, and I truly believe in what I am doing.

While getting my master's degree in English, I worked as a graduate assistant in the university writing center. I worked one-on-one with composition students to give them the skills and concepts necessary to make them better writers. This type of tutoring involved a lot of listening, asking questions, and giving precedence to the student's ideas, rather than acting as an authority with all of the answers.

As an undergraduate student, I was a Spanish tutor in the university's language department for one year. I tutored mainly beginning students, but as I spent six months studying Spanish in Spain. I have a B.A. in Spanish, and I feel comfortable tutoring intermediate and advanced levels, as well.
