I am a parent with a special education background and homeschooling experience of seven years.
I volunteered in elementary classrooms many hours over three years, assisting teachers with two thirds the class with learning disabilities.
My tutoring began when my son read in front of the class with ease, later to find that he retained nothing he had read. I had him tested to find he had receptive expressive language processing challenges, auditory processing and short term memory. I had watched my son loose track reading as well as follow activities in the classroom. He relied on his peers socially instead of taking the initiative himself.
I got involved with speech pathologists and California state frameworks to become prepared to home-school my son myself. In one year time his state testing for reading comprehension tested from the 25 percentile to the 75 percentile. That is when I realized the tools I had learned to implement had built blocks for him to remember. I am excited to share these skills with your children. Reading can be fun!
Due to experience, I realize many times things need to be repeated, therefore I am patient. I will find the tools for your child's strengths. If you have an {IEP} Individualized educational plan, I am prepared to be your child's advocate. I'm there to take the stress off of you.
Not only will your child get homework completed, but will build strengths and gain confidence. School can be exciting, creative, and your child can find out more about his or her self. It's my belief that one learns best when feeling good about oneself. I am open to stylize your child's strengths.
I understand parents worries, learning blocks can be built. My boys are 35 and 24, both independent. I don't have gran kids to nurture, so lets talk about your child's needs.
