I am a formally trained percussionist with studies beginning in the 6th grade at age 11 up through the college level at the University of Houston where I studied for a year under Dr. Blake W. before completing my BBA in Management. During that time, I grew musically as a pianist and vocalist in the Good News Gospel Choir and developed even further my gift of songwriting. I have written and recorded songs with the University of Houston Baptist Student Ministry and YDM (Youth Development Ministry) Mass Choir, featured on the Bobby Jones Gospel Show in 2004. I also added to my experience nine years of academic tutoring and teaching, including a stint in Houston ISD where I taught English, Writing, and extra-curricular music. In HISD, I started the Hogg Middle School drum line and developed this group as well as a few others for performance in front of their peers and select administrative staff throughout the District.

My number one passion is to be a positive role model and empower youth with wisdom and help them to learn about life through the universal language and gift of music. I am currently working on writing a series of instructional books as well as new songs in an effort to change people's lives for the better through my talents.

I love to see the students get those "ah-ha" moments when the light bulb turns on. I expect my students to be engaged and participate fully in the learning experience, which is normally pretty easy given my humorous nature and care for the student as a whole.

My lessons will ensure that the student has a sound understanding of music in its various aspects, while teaching in a hands-on manner. My interactive, multifaceted approach will ensure that students grasp the basic concepts of music and develop a mental framework through which they can quickly understand and create their own musical style to build upon for the future.
