My name is Lauren and I am a sixth grade teacher, starting my fourth year, in a self-contained classroom. I have tutored students ranging in ages of five to 15 in various subjects and content areas. I am certified to teach grades K-9. I absolutely love working with children and find there is nothing more rewarding than seeing a light bulb go off in a child's mind. I have taken 110 hours of professional development in different content areas to learn the latest strategies and techniques for enhancing student learning. In addition to teaching, I have tutored elementary students ages, 5, 7, 9, and 10 for various educational goals. I am able to help students with homework, projects and essays as well as work on basic learning skills for the core subjects. I am also certified to teach middle school, and currently teach in a self-contained sixth-grade classroom. I am very familiar with the middle school curriculum in Illinois, especially for sixth-grade. I am especially good at emphasizing the importance of developing organizational skills and responsibility, which will help them when they get to high school. I can also help students who are just starting to take Spanish as a foreign language. I took Advanced Placement English and Spanish during my years in high school and specialize in high school language arts, social studies and Spanish, but can tutor most subjects. I have worked with high school students in Spanish, Language Arts and Math.
