I have been a tutor for over 10 years, and I enjoy working with students. I first tutored informally during high school and college while I was still a student, and since have worked for my former high school and various private tutoring companies as an academic and test prep tutor.

The most rewarding part of the tutoring experience for me happens when the student gains the confidence that s/he knows and understands the material. My first official year of tutoring, which was done through my former high school, I was able to assist a struggling Senior in graduating by providing him with the necessary study skills to improve his test-taking ability. The joy and sense of accomplishment that he had after that experience led him to apply to college, and he is currently attending Vermont Technology College.

While working with ClubZ!, I tutored a C average 6th grade student to earn Student of the Month, and he won honor roll status by the end of the semester. Both he and his parents were surprised and proud, and I was able to suggest a method for academic success through interaction with parents and teachers that would help him continue with his improvements.

I have also tutored for the MCAS, SAT, ACT, GRE, and LSAT standardized tests. The students that I worked with improved their skills and were able to take their respective tests knowing that they had prepared and dedicated themselves to earning a higher score for their futures. It was nice to be able to sit down with them, explain and assist with difficult concepts and formulas, and watch them grasp the material and methods.
