I am currently working full-time as a private tutor. My students range in age from Kindergarten through 7th grade, and I provide individualized instruction for them in math, reading and/or writing.
I have over 10 years of experience as a classroom teacher and tutor, and have worked with children from preschool through 8th grade. During this time, I sought to give my students as much individualized attention as possible, and therefore tutored many of these students outside of school hours. I have also tutored students (K-8) in reading and math at a large corporate learning center, both in the center and online. I earned the Golden Apple (highest achievement) award within the first month for my online services. My most recent teaching job was at a Montessori school, as an Associate Primary Teacher.
I believe that all children can learn, but every child is different, with unique needs and learning styles. Therefore, one-on-one attention in specific skill areas can be the boost they need to reach their potential. I find that many children learn better when they are taught with different methods than just those normally offered in traditional classrooms.
I also strive to take them one step further by helping them see how the reading, writing and math skills they are learning can be used as tools to pursue their interests and/or chosen careers. This often results in a natural motivation to learn these skills, and an excitement towards learning.
