I have been tutoring for several years both independently and with Lindamood-Bell Learning Processes. In the past I have worked one-on-one with students with Autism, Asperger's, William's Syndrome, Cerebral Palsy, Dyslexia, Hyperlexia, ADD and AD/HD. I have tutored students from levels K-12 and college students. I use a research-based multi-sensory approach and conduct both pre and post testing with the GORT-4 for fluency and comprehension. Pre-testing allows me to formulate a student specific plan; post-testing allows us to see where we have made improvements and what areas still need development.

I truly believe that the term "Learning Disability" is misleading. I refer instead to "learning difficulties." We all have them in one area or another. (Mine is complex algebra.) The way to overcome these difficulties is to implement a learning strategy specific to each student; to instill confidence; and most of all to make learning fun! Too often students hate working on their areas of weakness specifically because it is so hard. This often leads to behavioral issues. A little levity can go a long way towards easing that tension.
