I have proven to be a conscientious professional (certified educator K-9, M.Ed. in Instructional Leadership), who recognizes the importance of approaching every aspect of a tutoring position with enthusiasm and thoroughness. I place a high priority on authentic or meaningful learning rather than memorization and am willing to spend whatever time is necessary to develop individualized lessons and identify instructional strategies or tools that will result in maximum learning for the student.

Other experience in the education field include teaching 6th grade language arts/reading, teaching abroad, tutoring through Title I SES programs, urban city tutoring, and independent tutoring.

I have had the opportunity to explore a balanced literacy framework, integrate state standards into class curriculum, and use technology to improve my student's opportunities to gain a solid education.

In addition to teaching in the classroom, I have worked as a tutor with Junior/Senior Scholars, a pipeline program to urban city education. It was there that I saw students progress with necessary reading skills, at an outstanding rate.

Also, both in the classroom, volunteer teaching English in Central America with at-risk youth, and in Title I supplementary tutoring programs, I have experience instructing students in small groups. I was enthused to find out that given the right guidance, support, and educational tools, my students were able to make an outstanding growth in one year's time.

What I believe, though, was the most encouraging outcome was students' receptiveness to such a process. Working with students on a more individualized basis made me realize how committed I truly am to enhancing an appreciation and understanding of the teaching process.
