I am currently a graduate student in the school psychology program at Northern Illinois University. In addition to my education experiences in both psychology and education, I also have hands on experience working with children. Specifically, I have been a teacher in a daycare center over the summers, and I have volunteered as a tutor to middle school students. As a daycare teacher, I worked primarily with prekindergarten and kindergarten students and taught a variety of lessons that encouraged the development of early reading abilities, mathematical concepts, and science knowledge. As a middle school tutor, I had the opportunity to help a variety of students who were struggling in school increase their overall performance. Overall, this collection of experiences will enable me to tutor children of a variety of ages and in a variety of subjects. Watching a child increase their success in school is an extremely rewarding experience, however, my favorite part of tutoring is the process of inspiring children to enjoy the learning process by catering my teaching to their individual interests.
