Life without music is quite unimaginable, isn't it? My journey as a musician began as a child at the age of 9-years-old. Four years later, I began passing on my passion for music through teaching lessons to beginners. As I ventured into a new chapter of my life after high school, I realized that I couldn't live without music.
During my studies, I won the Annual 2008 Concerto and Aria Competition at Florida Atlantic University, where I received the honor of playing with the orchestra. In addition to my solo piano studies, I accompanied several musicians (i.e. vocals, woodwinds), and assisted in their juries. The sight reading course I took certainly furthered my accompaniment skills, as well.
My passion for teaching also developed after taking one course on Piano Pedagogy. The music department was offering a graduate level Piano Pedagogy course, and I received permission to take on this en devour as an undergrad. Once I graduated my B.M. degree in Piano Performance, I received full-time status as an Administrative Assistant of the Director and as a Keyboard Teacher at Ocean's Edge School of Worship.
At this school, I developed the curriculum for Class Keyboard I, II, and III, focusing primarily upon chords, improvisation, blues, country, worship music and sight-reading. After making improvements in my abilities, I received the honor of becoming the head of the Keyboard Department, teaching all of our keyboard students. The curriculum I developed for this program focused on technique, scales, chord inversions, chord extensions, improvisation, various genres, synth, chord voice leading, using pads in worship music.
Throughout these years, I had been teaching private piano lessons on the side, but now I desire to impart my passion for music fully dedicated to those who desire to learn for the first time or take their music to the next level on the piano or keyboard.
The training I offer includes the study of the following: modern songs, classical solo work, worship songs (if desired), technique, basic improvisation, music theory, sight-reading, duets, chords, chord voice-leading, use of synth (if desired), ear-training.
If you are interested in pursuing private lessons, please contact me. I look forward to speaking with you!
