I am currently a social epidemiology researcher at Dana Farber Cancer Center in Boston, MA. I attended Brown University from 2004-2010 and received both my Master's in Public Health with a sub-focus in children's mental health from Brown and prior to that I received my Bachelor's in Anthropology. At the same time that I mastered key academic skills inside the classroom, I tutored students for over two years and worked in a public health setting. While my current day job consists of research on population health issues, I've found helping students overcome obstacles, challenge themselves and reach their learning goals to be immensely rewarding.

I see my role as more than just a tutor assisting with homework answers and test preparation. Though students often come to me for tutoring services, I've found that difficulty in classes or failure to achieve academic potential has resulted from a lack of solid grasp of subject material and consistent, effective study habits. I've developed lesson plans and have retaught my students in a more comprehensible manner.

In the process of doing so, I foster the ultimate goal of independent learning. My ultimate goal is for students to develop confident independent writing and study skills.

I use handouts, check-ins, checklists among other strategies to make learning a student-led process in which concepts are learned, reinforced and used.
I closely monitor my students' progress to ensure that they can develop consistent habits.
I help students learn to monitor and track their own learning with a learning log and schedule.

With the help of a learning log, I break down essential learning habits that students need to master material in a confident, sustainable fashion.

Weekly sessions are based according to student projects and student progress with previous lessons. Many of my students have had ADHD, so I've learned the importance of tailoring lessons to students' learning needs. My strategies are tailored to meet the evolving learning needs of my students.
