I am a soon-to-be graduate of St. Olaf College, and will student teach in English/ESL this Fall.

I started babysitting when I was 12 years old. I worked for several families over the years, and held a regular position with one family for 5 years. The children I babysat ranged in age from 4 months to 12 years old. During my senior year of high school, I was a Peer Helper through Big Brothers Big Sisters and was paired with a 5th grader. I have taught Sunday school (5th grade) and Vacation Bible School (1st - 4th grade), as well as piano and viola lessons (1st - 10th grades), for nearly 8 years.

My work with the Education Department at St. Olaf has required field experiences in the local schools. I have worked in 1st, 5th, and 11th grade classrooms. I have done additional tutoring through the Northfield Reads and Counts program with 1st and 3rd graders. I have spent the majority of my time working with individual students on spelling and reading fluency. I spent the month of January interning at LEAP High School in St. Paul, where I worked with an all-ELL student population and got a glimpse of the realities of Second Language Acquisition.
