I have a B.A. in Mathematics from San Jose State University. I have spent much of my career in the computer software industry. Since 2003, I have been working part-time as a tutor and an instructional aide at San Jose City College and with several private tutoring companies, as well as volunteering in computer classes for seniors. My specialty is math, of course. However, I am also adept in all aspects of English, including early phonics, reading comprehension, vocabulary, grammar, and writing. I'm also skilled in history, since I am big history buff. In addition, I am trained in tutoring for both ACT and SAT test prep. I am also patient and understanding in helping people of all levels learn basic computer applications.
I have experience tutoring all grade levels, from first grade through college. I have worked extensively with ESL students and students with learning disabilities. I love the mentoring relationship of tutoring. I find it extremely rewarding on a personal level, more so than any other job I have had. The students I have helped say I have a lot of patience and can explain concepts in ways that they can easily understand. As a bonus, I have a good sense of humor and love to laugh.
I try to make learning a fun and enjoyable experience. I am proud to say that I have been able to provide many students with the knowledge and confidence to successfully pass their classes and achieve their educational goals.
